2004 - Towards the middle of a trip through New Mexico, I was starting to head back to Texas and drove by this windmill and plateau with a light dusting of snow. I stopped because I was taken by the play of light on and off the plateau as the clouds passed in the background. I took a series of shots with and without the sunlight focused on the plateau peak and with several different cloud formations in the sky. This is my favorite variation and tried to create a color version, but it just didn't work for me. Black and white seems to bring out the cold starkness of the scene. Taken East of Socorro New Mexico in November. The last time I drove by the scene, the fin assembly had fallen off the windmill and broken.
